Campaign Style Burr Walnut & Mahogany Folding Vanity Box

Description

A charming and unusual early 20th century campaign style burr walnut and mahogany folding vanity box.

The box is formed of mahogany with a burr walnut veneer front and brass case corners. The veneered front lifts to reveal a swing mirror, three burr walnut veneered drawers, a small white and glass tray and a pull-out shelf. The mirror retains its original plate and swings as it should. A brass catch to the inside lid holds the mirror in place if desired.

The box shows some signs of wear commensurate with age and use, most notably to the walnut veneer front where the mirror catch has rubbed, but the box has a wonderful colour throughout, original mirror plate and is full of charm.
