Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Produced during the reign of King Edward VII (19011910), these cabinets drew inspiration from 18th-century Sheraton and Hepplewhite designs. They feature lighter proportions than Victorian predecessors, characterized by delicate satinwood marquetry, classical urn motifs, and dark rosewood veneers.

The primary carcass was often constructed using rosewood or mahogany veneers over solid timber base woods. Decorative surface details feature contrasting wood inlays, such as boxwood, satinwood, or harewood, complemented by cast brass drop handles and escutcheons.

Authentic pieces display fine, hand-cut marquetry rather than modern printed pattern overlays. Inspect the drawer construction for hand-dovetailed joints, period-correct brass hardware, and authentic age wear inside the timber drawers.

A side cabinet serves as a focal piece in an entrance hall, drawing room alcove, or bedroom. Placing contemporary table lamps or ceramics on the upper surface creates a contrast between historical craftsmanship and modern decorative elements.

Dust the surfaces regularly with a soft, dry cloth and apply a high-grade natural beeswax polish once or twice a year to preserve the timber finish. Position the cabinet away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent veneer cracking and wood fading.
