Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

French Louis XV style vitrines are distinguished by sweeping serpentine curves, cabriole legs, and elaborate gilt-bronze mountings. Originating in the 18th century, these cabinets prioritize fluid asymmetrical lines, parquetry or marquetry veneer work, and multi-sided glass panels designed for displaying collectables.

These cabinets typically incorporate exotic hardwood veneers such as kingwood, tulipwood, or rosewood applied over an oak or pine frame. Key structural and decorative features include cast brass or gilt-bronze (ormolu) mounts, hand-cut glass panels, and fitted marble tops.

Authentic period pieces display hand-carved joinery, hand-poured glass with subtle irregularities, and mercury-gilded or naturally patinated bronze mounts. The underside and unexposed backboards generally reveal hand-sawn timber with historic construction marks.

A serpentine display cabinet functions well as a focal accent piece in a formal dining space, drawing room, or wide hallway. Juxtaposing the intricate parquetry and bronze detailing against neutral, minimalist walls creates a balanced interior layout.

Dust the wood veneers regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and apply beeswax sparingly to preserve the finish. Ormolu mounts should be gently dusted without harsh chemical cleaners, while marble tops require immediate wiping of spills to prevent staining.
