Regency giltwood mirrors, produced between approximately 1810 and 1830, are characterised by classical Greco-Roman influences, ornate hand-carved timber frames, and hand-applied gold leaf gilding.

Carvers typically used pine or lime wood for the sculpted frame, coated it with layers of gesso and bole clay, and then applied gold leaf before inserting hand-blown mercury glass plate.
