Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

The original grand bronze equestrian monument of the Venetian condottiero Bartolomeo Colleoni was created by Andrea del Verrocchio in the late 15th century in Venice. During the 19th century, European foundries widely reproduced reduced-scale cast bronze editions to satisfy demand for classic Renaissance masterworks among grand grand tour collectors.

19th-century bronzes were typically cast using either the lost-wax (cire perdue) process or sand-casting methods. The cast alloy sections were chased by hand to refine surface detail before being finished with a chemical patination and mounted onto polished stone or marble bases.

Authentic period castings feature crisp chasing on fine details such as armour straps and facial features, along with natural patina wear consistent with age. Look for foundry marks, inscriptions referencing the original sculptor, and heavy, well-constructed marble or bronze plinths with period assembly threads.

A substantial equestrian bronze serves as a focal point when placed atop a dark wood sideboard, library desk, or fireplace mantel. It pairs effectively with classic architectural prints, leather-bound books, and warm lighting to create a refined aesthetic.

Dust the surface regularly with a dry, soft microfibre cloth or natural bristle brush. Avoid harsh chemical cleaners or water, and apply a light coat of clear microcrystalline wax annually to protect the original patination from oxidation and moisture.
