Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A partners writing table, originating in eighteenth and nineteenth-century Britain, is a large desk designed to accommodate two people working face-to-face simultaneously. It typically features drawers or cupboards on both opposing sides to provide equal access to storage and work surface.

Victorian writing tables were predominantly constructed from solid hardwoods or fine veneers such as walnut, mahogany, and rosewood. The writing surfaces were frequently fitted with skiver or hide leather insets, accompanied by hand-cut dovetail drawer joints and brass hardware or castors.

Authentic Victorian walnut desks showcase distinctive figure patterns, hand-cut dovetail joinery in the drawers, and original brass locks or castors. Look for signs of natural age-related wear, hand-turned legs, and period-correct drawer linings such as mahogany or pine.

Position the table centrally within a home office or library to celebrate its two-sided functional design. Pair it with contemporary task lighting and a tailored leather chair to balance traditional timber craft with modern ergonomics.

Keep the timber nourished by applying a high-quality beeswax paste along the grain several times a year while avoiding direct heat sources or sunlight. The inset leather top should be dusted regularly and conditioned using a specialized leather cream to prevent drying or cracking.
