Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Originating in the 18th century, Georgian card tables were designed specifically for social gaming and entertainment in formal reception rooms. They feature a hinged folding top that opens to reveal a larger playing surface supported by a rear leg mechanism.

These tables were predominantly crafted from solid dense mahogany or mahogany veneers, often incorporating oak or pine secondary timbers for internal framing. Details frequently include brass keyhole escutcheons and hand-cut joinery.

Authentic 18th-century pieces display period construction techniques, such as hand-carved cabriole legs, hand-cast brass hardware, and uneven timber shrinkage on the underside. Gate-leg action hinges with original steel pins also indicate authentic period craftsmanship.

Positioned folded against a wall, this table functions as a compact console in an entryway, hallway, or alcove. Decorating the surface with a contemporary table lamp, ceramic vase, or framed artwork creates a balanced blend of period character and contemporary design.

Keep the wood nourished by applying a high-quality beeswax polish once or twice a year, buffing gently along the direction of the grain. Avoid placement near direct heat sources or radiator units to prevent timber warping and finish fading.
