Description

This 19thC Marquetry Tripod Table is highly decorative and is of a particularly useful size. The tripod base is cleverly veneered to help emphasize the shape and design of the base. The base itself is of generous proportions and has a good weight to it, aiding stability.

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A 19th-century marquetry tripod table is a three-legged occasional table featuring decorative wooden veneers arranged in elaborate patterns across the tabletop and support structure.

These tables were typically constructed from woods such as walnut, mahogany, and ebony, utilizing contrasting timber veneers and occasionally metal trims or brass edging.

Authentic period marquetry shows hand-cut veneer joinery, minor natural movement in the timber, hand-carved tripod legs, and uneven patination on the underside surfaces.

A marquetry tripod table functions effectively as an accent piece placed beside a reading armchair, inside a bay window, or positioning an table lamp in a living space.

Keep the timber away from direct sunlight and radiators, dust regularly with a soft dry cloth, and apply a light coat of natural beeswax annually to preserve the veneer.
