Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A chest on chest, also known as a tallboy, is a piece of storage furniture consisting of two separate chests mounted one atop the other. Originating in the late 17th century and reaching peak popularity during the Georgian era, this design maximises vertical storage space without increasing the floor footprint.

Traditional Georgian tallboys were predominantly constructed from solid mahogany or flame mahogany veneers applied to pine or oak carcases. Key structural markers include hand-cut dovetail joints, oak-lined drawers, brass swan-neck handles, and bracket feet.

Authentic George III examples feature hand-planed timber surfaces, irregular hand-cut dovetail construction, and original lock mechanisms. The timber on the drawer linings typically shows natural shrinkage lines, and the upper chest is built slightly narrower than the base section.

A tallboy serves as an architectural anchor in a bedroom, dressing room, or hallway. Modern schemes pair dark mahogany tones with neutral plaster walls, contemporary artwork, or understated linen textiles to balance visual weight.

Maintain mahogany furniture by dusting regularly with a soft dry cloth and applying beeswax every six to twelve months in the direction of the grain. Keep the piece away from direct heat sources and direct sunlight to prevent timber warping and finish bleaching.
