Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Regency papier-mache items are defined by dense pressed paper construction, dark japanned backgrounds, and gilded decoration influenced by East Asian artistic traditions.

Sheets of paper were soaked in paste, layered over metal or wooden moulds, baked dry, and soaked in linseed oil before being polished, lacquered, and hand-painted.

Authentic pieces by Henry Clay often feature impressed maker marks on the underside, heavy structural stability, high-quality heat-resistant varnish, and cast brass handles.

Trays can be displayed flat on coffee tables or sideboards to group smaller decorative objects, or positioned vertically on stands within bookcases.

Dust gently with a soft microfibre cloth and avoid water, alcohol-based cleaners, or direct sunlight, which can cause cracking and fading of the varnish.
