A n early 19th Century Continental oil on canvas depicting a medieval scene of figures and a child in medieval costumes. A very finely painted canvas in very vibrant colours. Likely to be a scene from literature. Housed in the original walnut frame, it is in good condition commensurate with age with no paint losses.

A really interesting and atmospheric painting.

Canvas measures 28cm X 22cm

Framed it measures 41.5cm X 35.5cm

Provenance: The Robert Barley Collection. Robert Barley (1945-2018) was a leading antique dealer in London famed for his extensive and highly unusual collection of antiques. He was also well-known for his surrealist sculptures from found objects, precious stones, bones, skulls, fossils and shells.They have become highly collectable.
