Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Regency furniture, dating roughly from 1811 to 1830, is defined by classical Greek, Roman, and Egyptian influences, clean symmetrical lines, and fine timber veneers such as mahogany and rosewood. Pieces often feature brass inlays, turned legs, and delicate fabric panels.

Craftsmen primarily utilized flame mahogany and rosewood veneers over oak or pine carcass wood. Doors were frequently embellished with pleated silk or moire fabric panels, brass grilles, or decorative cockbeading.

Authentic period pieces exhibit hand-cut dovetail jointing, hand-planed drawer linings, period lock mechanisms, and natural unevenness in the curved timber construction. Patina on the mahogany, original brass keyhole escutcheons, and genuine timber shrinkage marks also indicate age.

Position the cabinet against a neutral wall to accent its deep wood tones and fabric inserts. Pair it with modern table lamps or contemporary artwork above the piece to create a balanced contrast between traditional craftsmanship and current aesthetics.

Apply a high-quality beeswax paste once or twice a year to preserve the timber glaze and protect the finish. Keep the cabinet away from direct heat sources and sunlight to prevent timber warping and fabric fading.
