A fine figured walnut dressing box by Parkins & Gotto, 24 & 25 Oxford Street, London, banded in brass and with further brass line inlays. The top inset with an engraved round cartouche and the key escutcheon with matching engraved surround.
The lid opens to reveal fully fitted interior with gilt hinges and fittings and a complete set of silver jars, boxes and bottles and original dressing implements with mother of pearl handles. The whole line in tooled Moroccan leather in deep maroon. The ruched velvet lid drops via a hidden button to reveal a stationery pouch and gilt brass mounts for the concealed mirror which retains it''s original plate.
The button to the back releases the front drawer which has a leather topped jewellery compartment divided for various items. The second button to the left releases the side drawer which is lined in leather.
The silver and glass is all in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or dents and is fully hallmarked for Thomas Whitehouse, London 1871.
Complete with fully working original lock and tassled key.
