The spines are arranged in 6 compartments by 5 raised bands with gilt decoration the title labels of gilt decorated red leather and the volume numbers shown in gilt on the green ground. The boards are covered in cloth with gilt edging to the adjacent leather. The edges of the pages and the end papers are marbled. This complete set in 10 volumes is a fourth edition, with the text carefully revised with notes by S W Singer F.S.A. Volume I contains The Life of William Shakespeare by W Watkiss LLoyd, author of the Life of Pericles, etc. Published in 1892 by George Bell & Sons of London and New York.
