Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A loo table is a 19th-century table originally designed for playing the popular card game Loo. These tables typically feature a circular or oval top with a tilt-top mechanism, allowing them to be stored flat against a wall when not in use.

Craftsmen primarily used high-grade timbers such as figured walnut, burr walnut, mahogany, and rosewood. Tops were frequently decorated with intricate marquetry or tunbridge ware inlays, supported by a carved central pedestal and cabriole quadruped legs.

Authentic pieces feature period-correct brass tilt-catch mechanisms beneath the tabletop, solid timber construction with veneered surfaces, hand-carved pedestal details, and age-related oxidisation on the underside.

These versatile tables function as formal dining tables, grand foyer centrepieces, or sculptural accent pieces. Tilted upright, they display rich figure grain and act as vertical timber art pieces in contemporary living spaces.

Dust regularly with a dry, soft cotton cloth and apply a high-quality beeswax polish once or twice a year in the direction of the grain. Avoid placing the table near direct heat sources, radiators, or strong sunlight to prevent veneer movement and sun bleaching.
