Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A tilt-top rosewood centre table is a prominent circular table designed to be positioned in the middle of a hallway or drawing room. Featuring a hinged top mechanism, the tabletop can be tilted vertically to showcase the decorative wood grain and conserve floor space when required.

These tables were typically crafted using solid rosewood or thick rosewood veneers over a sturdy hardwood frame. The underlying structure often includes brass catches, solid mahogany or oak sub-framing, and concealed brass castors beneath carved scroll feet.

Authentic period pieces display hand-carved decorative motifs, original brass tilt-latch hardware, and hand-cut veneers showcasing bookmatched grain patterns. Natural oxidisation on the timber and hand-cut screws on the underside of the base further indicate period construction.

Place the table in a spacious entrance hall or beneath a contemporary chandelier to create a focal point. Decorate the surface with a single sculptural vase, modern art books, or large floral arrangements to balance traditional craftsmanship with modern design elements.

Dust the timber regularly with a soft dry cloth and apply a high-quality natural beeswax polish once or twice a year to maintain the luster. Keep the piece away from direct heat sources and sunlight to prevent the thin veneer from lifting or cracking.
