Very Fine Edwardian Miniature Longcase Regulator in Mahogany C.1900

Description

Superb quality case in Georgian style, with every flamboyance you could possible think of!

Hooded with flaming spires front, rear and centre, moulded swan necks. Full reeded pillars front and rear with Corintheum capitols. Housing a very heavy dial with deep floral engravings.

Engraved and silvered brass chapter ring with unusual applied Arabic numbers, quartered by rococo spandrels. And in the arch a rolling moon.

Concave and arcaded throat with acorns over trunk with reeded quarter columns and corintheum capitols. The shaped and bevelled glazed door revealing two brass cased weights and the first hint that this is not a run of the mill longcase clock.

A mercury pendulum bob, with very fine rating nut and wooden pendulum rod.

Base with flame veneer and stepped brickwork, canted corners and standing on ogee bracket feet.

Very fine dedbeat movement with a full maintaining power, surprisingly on the going side and on the strike train, rifled barrels and beat adjust fro the pendulum.
