Limited Edition Edward VIII Musical Coronation Jug.

1920 - 1940
Description

A rare musical jug by Crown Devon Fielding to commemorate the planned Coronation of Edward Vlll (Later The Duke of Windsor) in 1936.

A coat of arms on one side shows the young king surrounded by a lion and a unicorn. Below the inscription "Emperor of India" There is also an inscription that shows the abdication statement to the back where a town crier is painted in vivid colour. A lion forms the handle.

The jug was made in a limited edition of 150 of which this is number 104.

The inscription verso states that 1500 were produced but only 150 were made as production ceased after the abdication statement.

The piece plays "God Save The King" when lifted. (see video)

The original certificate accompanies the piece.
