Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Originating in the eighteenth century as portable serving pieces known as dumbwaiters, two-tier wine tables allowed guests to self-serve beverages and small plates without servants present in dining rooms or drawing rooms.

Tables from this period were predominantly crafted from solid mahogany or mahogany veneers, featuring hand-turned central columns, carved tripod legs, and hand-fitted dovetail or dowel joinery.

Authentic period pieces exhibit natural wood shrinkage along the grain, authentic hand-carved details, smooth patination on untouched surfaces, and traditional construction marks on the underside of the tiers and tripod legs.

A two-tier table functions effectively as an accent table beside a armchair or sofa, offering two levels to display books, small table lamps, or decorative ceramics alongside drinks.

Dust regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and apply a high-quality beeswax polish once or twice a year, avoiding modern spray cleaners, direct sunlight, and close proximity to central heating radiators.
