1913 Rands silver pocket watch from Rotherham & Sons.
The watch has a nicely jewelled stem-winding movement which is working nicely. The movement is signed Rands, Swiss made. The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover.
The brand name Rands was registered by Rotherham & Sons of London and La Chaux-de-Fonds in 1928.
The watch measures 49mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is silver and there are London import marks inside the hinged case backs for 1913 together with an importer''s mark George Stockwell. From 1 June 1907, Stockwells acted as assay agents, facilitating the import into Britain of foreign gold and silver items which had to be assayed and hallmarked in a UK assay office before being released for retail. The front of the case is in good condition, the hinged case back has unevenness.
The acrylic lens has light surface marking from use.
The dial has several very faint hairline cracks and an old repair at 11 o''clock. Original blued steel hands.
The watch will be sent in a new presentation box.
