A beautiful turn of the century oil on canvas depicting a woodland track alongside a walled countryside property.
The artist, Felix Polak (1874-1951) has captured this leafy view with a skilful impressionistic touch. Perhaps he sat on the grassy bank to the left while sketching out his studies. We particularly love the way that the foliage is lurching over the wall as if the property is lost in time.
Polak was born in Paris and studied under M Thirion. He was a member of the Societaire des Artistes Francais and in 1909, he was represented at the Grand Palais des Champs-Elysées.
The painting is housed within a decorative wooden and composite frame with ornate foliate decoration.
