Height 82 cm, Width 80 cm and Depth 5.5 cm
Henri Joseph Pauwels was born in the city of Haasdonk, Belgium in 1903. Greatly inspired by Monet and Van Gogh, Pauwels began to teach himself how to paint and quickly became a master of post-impressionism. Henri Joseph or ‘Jos’ as he is known, painted primarily landscapes, interiors, marines and views of Antwerp. His works became increasingly popular due to their keen sense of poetic artistry and Post-Impressionist optimism. Pauwel’s translation of nature as conveyed through his use of luminous colors and delicate paint handling reflect his maturity as a painter. After a long and successful career, Herni Joseph ‘Jos’ Pauwels died in Beveren, Belgium in 1983. His works are found today in many collections throughout the world
