Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Regency period library tables were crafted during the early nineteenth century in Britain, showcasing classical proportions, fine native or imported timbers such as rosewood and mahogany, and decorative accents like brass galleries and leather writing surfaces.

Cabinetmakers primarily utilised dense hardwoods like figured rosewood and mahogany, often incorporating gilt-brass mounts or galleries, together with gilded leather inserts for writing surfaces.

Authentic Regency tables exhibit hand-cut dovetail joints on drawers, genuine brass hardware with natural oxidisation, hand-turned column supports, and distinctively figured timber veneers typical of early nineteenth-century craftsmanship.

This style of table functions effectively as a standalone desk in a home office, positioned behind a sofa in a living area, or placed along a spacious hall wall to bring historical structure to contemporary spaces.

Keep the timber away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent drying and fading, apply high-grade beeswax polish along the wood grain, and clean the leather surface with a specialised leather conditioner.
