An extremely rare double compartment Georgian silver snuff box by the finest box makers of the period, Thomas Phipps and Edward Robinson. ‘Navette’ shape, of generous proportions and a thick gauge, having an attractive all-over bright-cut and engraved design with central floral motifs, typical of Phipps and Robinson. Both compartments have marvelous ‘invisible’ hinges and open to reveal gorgeous silver-gilt interiors. Amazing collector’s box.
Condition: In lovely collector''s condition with, the decoration with good definition, the gilding with minimal wear, the hinges in very good order, the lids closing firm and flush. Nice hallmarks to interior of main compartment.
