A superb large scale Italian Grand tour bronze figure of the ancient Greek god Prometheus who was famous for giving fire to mankind. This very finely detailed sculpture depicts the figure of Prometheus gazing upward with a torch of fire in one hand. He is sparsely dressing in cloak and sandals and wearing an ornate helmet. In particular, the face hands and feet show fine detail and definition. He is mounted on a substantial stepped dark green veined marble base with one foot raised onto the upper curved block.
