Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Regency period furniture, dating from roughly 1811 to 1830, is characterised by classical Greek, Roman, and Egyptian influences, featuring symmetrical lines, dark exotic timbers like rosewood and mahogany, and decorative carvings such as brass inlaid details or scrolled trestle supports.

Cabinetmakers during the Regency era favoured dense exotic hardwoods, particularly Brazilian rosewood and Cuban mahogany, often enhanced with brass mountings, intricate veneer matching, hand-carved scrollwork, and solid turned stretchers.

Authentic 19th-century pieces usually exhibit hand-cut joinery, distinct natural grain variations characteristic of antique rosewood, hand-carved decorative motifs like rosettes or acanthus scrolls, and natural age-related patination on unexposed surfaces.

A Regency rosewood side table works well alongside a streamlined modern sofa or between two tailored armchairs, where its dark wood grain and intricate carved silhouette create visual contrast in a modern interior.

To preserve rosewood furniture, keep it away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent timber movement and fading. Dust regularly with a dry, soft cloth and apply a high-quality beeswax polish sparingly once or twice a year.
