Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Georgian corner cupboards date from the 18th to early 19th century and were designed to utilise space in dining rooms and parlours. They typically feature field-panelled doors, often arched, constructed from solid English or Welsh oak, occasionally set upon integrated stands with turned legs.

These cupboards were predominantly crafted from solid oak, featuring hand-cut dovetail joints, mortise and tenon joinery, and wooden pegs. Hardware typically consists of cast brass escutcheon plates and H-hinges or butterfly hinges secured with hand-cut iron screws.

Authentic period pieces display signs of age, including hand-planed backboards, irregular joint construction, and natural oxidisation on the timber. Look for original brass H-hinges, iron locks, and unevenness in the wood cut consistent with hand tools.

A period corner cupboard serves as a functional focal point in underutilised corners of hallways, dining spaces, or living rooms. Modern interiors balance dark oak timber by surrounding it with neutral paint schemes, contemporary ceramics, or minimalist lighting.

Regular dusting with a soft, lint-free cloth maintains the timber surface. A light application of high-quality beeswax once or twice a year preserves the natural patina and protects the wood from drying out, while direct heat sources and high humidity should be avoided.
