Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

William IV furniture, produced between 1830 and 1837, marks a transition from Regency lightness to heavier Victorian proportions. Card tables from this era typically feature bold carved details, prominent pedestal bases, and rich wood veneers such as rosewood or mahogany.

These tables were commonly constructed from solid hardwood framing overlaid with figurative rosewood or mahogany veneers. The interiors featured wool baize or felt playing surfaces, with brass hinges and concealed storage wells underneath swivel tops.

Authentic period pieces exhibit hand-cut dovetail joints, original brass castors, period-appropriate hand carving, and natural oxidisation on untouched timber surfaces. The foldover mechanism should operate on hand-forged steel or brass hinges.

A folded card table functions effectively as a hall console or side table against a wall. It can be dressed with modern decorative ceramics, lamps, or framed artwork, and unfolded into a central room position when needed for board games.

Keep the wood away from direct heat sources and sunlight to prevent veneer cracking and fading. Apply a high-grade natural beeswax polish twice a year along the grain to preserve the timber and protect the original finish.
