Dragon-Antiques.com has dated this Mid Century Abstract Painting to the 1950s.
He studied at Hull College of Art and Brighton School of Art and showed at the RA, NEAC and elsewhere in Britain and overseas. From 1940-1946 he served with the Essex Regiment and was subsequently employed at Pinewood Studios. The many film sets of the 50s, 60s and early 70s on which he worked included 'Oliver Twist' and the 'Black Narcissus'. His work is in the permanent collection of the Imperial War Museum. 'Bunny' Burwell was a founder member of The Colne Group and also a member of The Free Painters Group. He lived at Turk's Head Court, Eton.
