A Late 19th Century French Gilt Brass Carriage Clock

A late 19th century French gilt brass carriage clock of small size in a Corniche case with the original satin finish, the white enamel dial with Roman numerals and blued steel hands, with above an oval viewing glass showing the original platform with English lever escapement. The eight day two train movement striking the hours and half hours on a gong with the backplate stamped FRANCE and 1237, matched on the inside plate.
French, circa 1890
Condition: there is a small hairline crack running through the centre of the dial which is visible only on close inspection. The movement has been fully serviced and is in full working condition, and the case lightly cleaned and lacquered.
