This is a charming example of a novelty Edwardian pin cushion.
Crafted from solid sterling silver, it is clearly hallmarked on the side for Birmingham 1906, with the maker''s mark of Sydney & Co. The actual pin cushion has at some point been replaced and is a dark purple velvet, which doesn''t show very well in the photographs. The base underneath the cushion is weighted to give the camel more stability. A relatively rare animal to find in a pin cushion.
