A good example of the ''wheel'' barometer in Mahogany with inlays and boxwood stringing. The barometer has the concave turned brass bezel dating it circa 1830.
The long thermometer and scale is in very good condition and working as it should. The main barometer dial is signed by the maker J. Mache of Cambridge. Mr Mache was of Italian descent following the invention of the barometer by the inventor and scientist, Italian - Evangelista Torricelli in 1643. The glass has a centrally adjusted hand for taking yesterdays reading. An architectural ''broken'' pediment with central brass finial.
