Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Mid-nineteenth-century Victorian stools often feature Rococo Revival influences, characterised by sweeping cabriole legs, carved scrollwork, and serpentine seat rails. These pieces were crafted as decorative yet functional additions to drawing rooms and parlours.

These stools were constructed from solid walnut, valued for its fine grain and strength during hand carving. The interiors typically used traditional upholstery techniques, including horsehair padding, webbing, and metal coil springs.

Authentic pieces exhibit evidence of hand-carving irregularities, natural oxidisation in the wood timber, traditional mortise and tenon joinery, and natural age-related wear on contact points such as the feet and frame edges.

A large square footstool can serve as a central coffee table alternative when topped with a wooden tray, or placed at the foot of a bed to add colour, texture, and historical contrast to contemporary decor.

Dust the walnut frame with a soft, lint-free cloth and apply natural beeswax sparingly to preserve the wood finish. Keep fabric upholstery away from direct sunlight to prevent fading and vacuum gently with a brush attachment.
