Superb figured Walnut longcase clock signed George Tyler, Popes Head Alley, London.
 
12'' brass dial with ringed winding holes, date aperture, blued steel hands and the centre having matting of exceptional quality.
 
The door with herring bone border and short grain mouldings. Sides crossbanded walnut, plinth quarter veneered, bordered with herring bone inlay and crossbanding.
 
8 day five pillar movement striking the hours on a bell.
 
Georgr Tyler, a watch and clockmaker, apprenticed to Robert Dingley in 1692. He became a member of the Clock makers Co. 1699. An example of his work is illustrated in the famous Wetherfield Collection.
