Stunning Example of a Ladies Well Figure Tortoise Shell Silver Framed Hinged Lid Card Case of Substantial proportions, made during the first half of the Nineteenth Century.
 
The rectangular hinged cover with lavish inlaid gold, silver and mother of pearl decoration. The central shield shaped gold cartouche is vacant.
 
Condition: Good condition for such an early piece with no losses to inlays, nice surface patination to tortoiseshell. The case closes firmly, there is a little lifting at front, see images this is not at all noticeable.
 
Width: (at widest, just over) 5.5'' (14cm). Depth: 3” (8cm).
