Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Regency sideboards, originating in early 19th-century Britain, are characterised by classical proportions, symmetry, and architectural forms. They frequently feature pedestal ends, flame mahogany veneers, and subtle decorative brass work designed for formal dining rooms.

Cabinetmakers primarily used imported West Indian mahogany, specifically flame mahogany veneers for front panels to highlight decorative grain patterns. Secondary timbers included pine or oak for drawer linings, complemented by solid brass hardware and turned timber feet.

Look for hand-dovetailed drawer joints, brass handles, and hand-planed secondary woods inside drawers. Authentic pieces display natural patination, subtle age-related shrinkage lines in veneers, and period-appropriate turned or reeded support legs.

Balance the rich mahogany timber by placing it against neutral or contemporary wall finishes, such as muted sage or plaster tones. Style the top surface with modern ceramic vessels, abstract artwork, or contemporary table lamps to create a striking textural contrast.

Maintain the finish by dusting regularly with a soft, dry microfibre cloth and applying a high-grade beeswax polish once or twice a year. Keep the furniture away from direct sunlight and heat radiators to prevent mahogany veneers from cracking or fading.
