A rare late 17th century brass cased lantern clock.c.1690.made by sought after london maker, john ebsworth*(w.1657-99).verge escapement to the bell striking movement with alarm.rare centre verge pendulum.single pointer to the beautifully engraved dial with narrow silvered chapter ring.fretwork decoration to the top and original bell.sat on the original hook and spikes.full working order.very petit size.measures 6.5" X 7" deep X 15"high.

*john ebsworth, apprentice through the clock makers company to richard ames.master of the clock maker's company in 1697.one of the more prolific maker's of lantern clocks.noted for his centre verge pendulum type of movements.
