Copperplate engraving is an intaglio printing technique where designs are incised into a copper plate using a burin, allowing for high-detail reproduction of classical illustrations during the Georgian era.

These works were produced using hand-engraved copper plates, dark oil-based inks, and durable laid rag paper made from cotton or linen fibres.

Genuine period prints feature a visible indented plate mark surrounding the image border, chain lines within the rag paper when held to light, and characteristic paper toning.

Display classical architectural or figural prints in simple wooden or gilt frames to create a focal point in a hallway, home library, or above a sideboard alongside ceramic decor.

Frame prints using acid-free mounting materials and UV-filtering glass, ensuring the item is stored in a climate-controlled room away from direct sunlight and damp conditions.
