Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Kidney-shaped tables, historically known as tables a rognon, originated in 18th-century France during the Louis XV period. The crescent shape was designed ergonomically to fit close to a sitters body while maintaining a compact footprint in living spaces.

These tables are constructed using dense timber frames such as mahogany or rosewood, adorned with intricate marquetry veneers made from satinwood or boxwood. Cast brass or gilt bronze (ormolu) is commonly used for edge galleries, leg mounts, and handle fittings.

Authentic period pieces feature hand-cut marquetry inlays, dovetailed joinery, and solid timber cores beneath decorative veneers. Look for original cast brass mounts that display natural surface oxidisation and precise hand-chasing details.

An inlaid kidney table functions well alongside a streamlined armchair or sofa, offering a contrasting organic shape. The top surface accommodates small table lamps, while glazed compartments provide display space for sculptural objects.

Dust surfaces regularly with a soft dry cloth and polish timber sections periodically with high-grade beeswax. Avoid chemical solvents or moisture, which can loosen wood veneer adhesives or tarnish the natural patina of the brass fittings.
