In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Popularised during the 18th century in France and widely produced throughout the late Victorian and Edwardian eras, kidney-shaped tables feature a concave front designed to allow a user to sit or reach closer to the surface. These versatile pieces served as ladies writing desks, work tables, or compact occasional side tables in drawing rooms.

Tables from the late 19th century were typically constructed using solid mahogany or dense fruitwoods as a core, faced with rich mahogany veneers. Intricate decorative motifs were created using contrasting wood inlays, such as satinwood, boxwood, and rosewood, supported by brass feet or castors.

Authentic pieces from circa 1895 display natural oxidisation on the underside of timber surfaces and subtle hand-worked variations in the marquetry veneer. The underside often reveals hand-planed secondary timbers rather than modern plywood or synthetic materials.

A kidney table functions effectively beside an armchair or at the end of a sofa to hold reading materials or an accent lamp. Its compact crescent profile also makes it suitable for narrow hallways, alcoves, or as an occasional bedside table in classic bedrooms.

Maintain mahogany furniture by wiping surfaces with a soft, dry lint-free cloth and applying beeswax polish sparingly once or twice a year to preserve the patina. Avoid direct exposure to strong sunlight or radiator heat sources to prevent timber cracking and veneer lift.
