A fine george III period sheraton inlaid bracket clock attributed to gillows.c.1780.made by thomas shaw* of lancaster(w.1766-99). 8 day double fusee verge escapement movement,striking on a bell to the hour.early painted arched top dial with gilded decoration.strike/silent facilty.superb mahogany cushion top case with oval glazed panels to the sides.fruitwood inlaid throughout.superb engraved backplate to the movement.standing on bracket feet.full working order.measures 10.5" X 8" X 21"high.

*thomas shaw is listed as making clocks for gillows in 1789.there is also a clock in the judges lodgings,gillows museum made by him.he was made a freeman of lancaster in 1766.
