Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

During the 19th century, French bronze casting reached a peak of technical proficiency and popularity, depicting historical, military, and allegorical figures created using lost-wax or sand-casting techniques.

These sculptures were typically cast in bronzean alloy composed primarily of copper and tinand hand-chased to refine detail, finished with custom patinas, and mounted on timber or marble plinths.

Authentic period pieces display crisp hand-chasing on garments and facial features, realistic weight, natural surface patina consistent with age, and occasionally foundry marks or sculptor signatures.

Displaying a pair of bronze figures on a mantelpiece, sideboard top, or within a bookshelf adds historical character, visual texture, and grounding dark tones to modern interior settings.

Dust regularly with a soft, dry microfibre cloth or soft brush, avoid chemical solvents or water, and occasionally apply a light coat of clear microcrystalline wax to preserve the patina.
