HER SALON WAS THE PLACE TO SEE AND BE SEEN, IT DREW IN PARISIANS FROM THE LEADING LITERARY AND POLITICAL CIRCLES OF THE EARLY 19TH. CENTURY.
SHE WAS MARRIED TO JACQUES-ROSE RECAMIER AN AUSTRIAN BANKER AT THE AGE OF FIFTEEN WHO WAS SOME 30 YEARS OLDER. THE MINIATURE AND FRAME WOULD DATE TO THE EARLY VICTORIAN PERIOD AND IS PRESENTED IN A PAPIER MACHE FRAME WITH GILT OVAL BEZEL AND ACORN HANGER.
WELL PAINTED ON A THIN PIECE OF IVORY WHICH REMAINS FLAT AND UNDAMAGED AS DOES THE FRAME THAT IS ALMOST PRISTINE WITH JUST A SMALL CHIP IN THE LACQUER LOWER RIGHT EDGE.
THE SIZE OF THE MINIATURE IS 64MM HIGH X 52MM WIDE, THE SIZE OF THE FRAME IS 115MM HIGH X 97MM WIDE
