M Lees and Sons has dated this piece to the Georgian era.

The square cross-banded top with shaped ,rounded 're-entrant' corners with box-wood strung 'framed' vignette panels , the friezes fitted with a single full-length double-sided drawer (opens in both directions) and opposing twin 'dummy' drawers , all with cross-banding and box-wood strung edges . The finely-made mahogany drawer linings with quarter-cut dust-bead corners. All sides fitted with original cast gilt-brass knobs, the key-hole escutcheons with diamond /lozenge shaped inlay . The lower edge with ebony and satin-wood/box-wood line.

Raised on an inverted 'umbrella' type 4-splay base with box-wood stringing , fitted with original brass box castors .
The octagonal facetted and gently tapering central column support with conforming box-wood strung edge detail .

In excellent original condition .
Fine patina and colour with a well-chosen figured mahogany top.
An outstanding example of elegant and restrained late C18th furniture design .
Has the original steel key.
