Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Chippendale Revival furniture, prominent in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, reinterprets eighteenth-century designs by Thomas Chippendale. Key features include intricate lattice carving, blind fretwork, Chinese and Gothic design motifs, and the extensive use of solid mahogany alongside flame mahogany veneers.

Furniture makers of this period used solid mahogany for structural elements like legs and framing, combined with selected flame mahogany veneers on aprons and table tops. Secondary timbers such as oak, ash, or pine were frequently used for internal bracing and structural support.

Pieces from this period display crisp, machine-assisted precision combined with hand-finished carving, particularly on blind fretwork legs and corner spandrels. Inspection of the underside reveals age-appropriate timber oxidisation, traditional mortise and tenon joinery, and smooth wear on the leg bases.

A mahogany centre table functions effectively as a focal point in a central foyer or entrance hall. Alternatively, it can be positioned behind a sofa or set in a bay window to hold table lamps, ceramics, and books, adding depth to modern interior schemes.

Dust mahogany regularly with a soft, dry microfibre cloth and apply a high-quality beeswax polish once or twice a year following the wood grain. Keep the table away from direct sunlight, radiators, and extreme humidity fluctuations to prevent veneer lifting or timber cracking.
