Rare Victorian Brass Newel Post Lamp Original Acid Etched Shade & Fixing. Rewired
Newel lamps were fixed onto the post at the bottom of the staircase in the large estates in the 19th century, and this one is typically from the high Victorian era. Original acid etched green shade is fixed by 3 clips, one of which has the screw to move that particular clip forwards and backwards to ensure security. Gas tap remains intact.
Heavy, sturdy and elegant. Some tiny nibbles at the bottom of the shade which are not visible when the shade is in situ.
Very rare.
