Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Founded in Vienna in 1885 by Friedrich Goldscheider, the Goldscheider manufactory became a prominent producer of high-quality terracotta, faience, and bronze sculptures. The firm gained international renown for its Art Nouveau, Orientalist, and figurative works created by leading contemporary sculptors.

Terracotta sculptures were formed using refined clay pressed into multi-part plaster moulds before being kiln-fired. Many late nineteenth-century pieces were finished with cold-painted polychrome pigments or slip glazes applied after firing to create realistic skin tones, fabric textures, and subtle patination.

Authentic pieces typically feature impressed factory marks on the base or reverse, such as Goldscheider Wien, Reproduction Reservee, or the company seal. They frequently bear impressed model numbers, artist signatures, and title plaques integrated into the base.

An antique figurative sculpture functions well as a focal point on a dark wood sideboard, marble mantelpiece, or within a dedicated display cabinet. Pairing the warm tones of patinated ceramic with contemporary minimalist backdrops creates a refined, curated contrast.

Cold-painted terracotta finishes are vulnerable to moisture and harsh chemical solvents. Dust the surface gently using a soft, dry camel-hair brush, avoiding water or liquid cleaners to prevent lifting or discolouring the original painted pigments.
