ANTIQUE #SA350355

Rare And Unusual Chinese 19th Century Prisoner Of War Carved Bone Model Of A Boat

Status: This item has been sold
Sold by: Curious Antiques

Rare and unusual Chinese (possibly Japanese?) 19th Century hand-carved model of a traditional Eastern boat. The carving is very good quality and the model has a lot of intricate detail.

Given the quality of the carving and the subject we expect this is either a sailors/maritime or more likely a prisoner of war piece. We purchased it some years ago in a specialist oriental fine art auction, and it was described as a prisoner of war piece.

There are no obvious repairs or significant loses and it is in good overall condition commensurate with its age. Please refer to the detailed photographs and feel free to contact us for more information regarding this rare and interesting antique.

Size: Approximately 30cm long x 11 cm wide.
