Constructed of solid pitch pine, the bench features a fixed horizontal bar back that is supported by sturdy cast iron upright arms. Likewise, the seat is constructed of solid pitch pine and features a concave shape for comfortable seating. The ends of the seat and bar back are chamfered. The bench is supported by two solid cast iron cross-stretchers that connect to the bar backs. This style of bench would have been constructed for use on the British railway system, on station platforms during the late Victorian period. The bench boasts an excellent colour and patination.
