Description

A good george III oak cased longcase clock made by christopher caygill* of askrigg.c.1790.pretty painted dial with rare 'penny' moon to the centre.30 hour movement striking on a bell to the hour.oak cased with reeded sides and swan neck pediment hood.full working order.stands 86"high.

*christopher caygill was a prolific clockmaker b 1747- d 1803.

Apprenticed to mark metcalfe.mainly brass dialled clocks,very few painted dials made.*
